Romans 13:1-7. Discuss.

  1. In what way did God comfort, challenge, or correct you today?
  2. Where does your understanding or appreciation of government not match God’s Word?
  3. How should a government be a servant or minister to its citizens?
  4. What is the connection between capital punishment and the image of God?
  5. What does it mean that the government has the sword and the church has the keys? Why is this distinction important?
  6. How can you be more God-ward as you pay taxes, pay revenue, show respect, and give honor to those in authority?
  7. How would you respond to someone who says, “We should never honor or respect the government because all authority is evil”?
  8. When is it appropriate to disobey the commands of someone in authority?
  9. Spend time praying for kings and those in authority, that they would govern in such a way that the people are safe and the gospel advances through the church.
