Discuss 2 Corinthians 8:1-7

  1. In what way did God comfort, challenge, or correct you today?
  2. Psalm 78:4 says, “We will not hide them from their children, but tell to the coming generation the glorious deeds of the Lord and his might, and the wonders that he has done.” What is the family’s role in accomplishing Psalm 78:4? What is the church’s role in accomplishing Psalm 78:4?
  3. Who do you know that has exhibited an abundance of joy in a severe test of affliction (2 Cor 8:2)?
  4. What role does God’s grace play in living a joyfully generous life? How can you more deeply tap into this powerful grace?
  5. Think back over the Christmas gifts you gave. Which ones are marked by a joy in God? Which ones are marked by bitterness or greed?
  6. What is a simple step you can take to become more joyfully generous?
  7. Since Bible reading is an essential part in seeing and experiencing the glory of God, what can you do to prioritize daily Bible reading?
  8. What is the connection between repentance and joy in God? Is there anything you need to repent of that promised you joy but is stealing your joy?
  9. How  would your schedule change if you believed this truth, “a day in your courts is better than a thousand elsewhere. I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God then dwell in the tents of wickedness” (Ps 84:10)?
