Discuss Philippians 3:1-11

  1. In what way did God comfort, challenge, or correct you today?
  2. Looking at Philippians 3:1-11, what does it mean to rejoice in the Lord? What reasons do we have to rejoice?
  3. Looking at Philippians 3:1-11, what does the apostle Paul reject (or count as loss) and why does he do it?
  4. Looking at Philippians 3:1-11, what specifically are we looking to Jesus for? What do we gain from him?
  5. You may not struggle with the ceremonies of Judaism, but where are you tempted to look in order to convince yourself that you are a good person?
  6. Why should you reject these things? What if they are good things like your God-given role as worker, spouse, parent, neighbor, etc.?
  7. Why is the resurrection of Jesus essential to Christianity?
  8. Why is the righteousness of Jesus essential to Christianity?
  9. What would it look like for you to live everyday life dependent on the resurrection power and righteousness of Jesus?
