The word on the street is that the town where Mambrino Baptist Church was founded took its name from a race horse named Mambrino. The original Mambrino seems like a stretch seeing that he was in Great Britain. Check him out here. More likely, the town was named after one of these. I’m going with Mambrino King just for the fun of it.
So yes, we are a church named after a race horse. Or at least that’s the story.
Update- looks like I need to go get some Mambrino King chocolate here.
Who we are, and who we are striving to be, is summarized in our core values.
- The Supremacy of God
- The Authority of Scripture
- The Gospel of Jesus Christ
- The Great Commission
- Biblical Fellowship
Cherishing the supremacy of God means we strive to be a worshiping people. Valuing the authority of Scripture means we strive to be a submissive people. Prioritizing the gospel of Jesus Christ means we are a people of dependent faith. Prizing prayer means we pray together and individually because we feel our weakness and God’s great strength. Treasuring the Great Commission means we are a people deliberately making disciples in our homes, on our streets, and at our work. Holding the importance of biblical fellowship means we are a people who protect the unity of the church.
